Some Golf Vacationers actually prefer to Travel Solo

The surge in travel since Covid has encouraged many vacationers to book golf holidays especially in SE Asia.

Maybe to escape the cold weather, or to experience some of the best new courses around or to enjoy a difference culture, golf in SE Asia is booming.

Apart from individual holidays, many are now opting to fly over to participate in Amateur golf tournaments held in Thailand and Vietnam.

Although many friends and even groups from the same golf club take part, there is a growing trend for solo golfers to also compete.

Mark from Buffalo New York State  has now been to several events in Thailand and recently flew over 30 hours just to take part in the Pullman Pattaya Invitational Series.

Mark said,” I was a bit apprehensive on my first trip, however now I actually prefer to travel solo, as I find it easier to actually meet new friends from all over the world. Every day I am paired up with different players and the nightly 19th hole parties definitely breaks the ice too. “

Golfasian has been at the forefront in pioneering these popular amateur golf tournaments for several years and have finetuned how to organise large numbers of international golfers arriving altogether.

Having just been named World’s Best Golf Tour Operator at the 2023 World Golf Awards, Golfasian has earnt this accolade by looking after over 15,000 vacationers in the past year. Over 2,000 of them enjoyed competing at several events in Thailand and Vietnam.

Mark Siegel the MD at Golfasian said, “Although our tournaments are open to both men and ladies of all standards, each tournament is run similar to a PGA or Asian Tour event, with major sponsors, referees even the caddies wear the  players name and country on their bibs.”

Although golf is the still the hero, these tournament’s also have a very active social side with nightly 19th hole parties, off course activities for non-golfers and culminating in major gala dinners, music and prizing giving.

Over the years many friendships have been made with groups returning every year. In fact, they estimate that over 15 marriages have occurred as a result of taking part!

The 2024 schedule of tournaments is now available at https://www.golfasian.com/events/.
