Ladies Golf in Thailand

Ladies Golf in Thailand

Hua_hin_golf_ladies Whenever I am traveling overseas and extolling the attractions of golfing in Thailand, sometimes I hear men whining, “Oh, my wife would not let me go on a Thailand golf trip”.  In fact, I am seeing a growing trend where couples are favoring a Thailand golf tour over more traditional destinations. Also, my Thailand golf travel company is hosting more and more dedicated lady golf groups.

Thailand is indeed a ‘Paridise For Lady Golfers‘, not just because of its wide range of golf courses, but also thanks to all those other pluses that most ladies enjoy – fabulous spas, world-class cuisine, lots of value-for-money shopping. Plus, contrary to the old days in Europe and the USA, there’s little golf sexism here. Ladies are very welcome everywhere! Clubhouses have changing facilities for ladies, there are ladies only spas and beauty salons, plus ladies are not only welcome but encouraged to eat/drink at all 19th holes.

Lady golfers can trace their beginnings back to 1978 when various clubs bonded together to form the Thailand Amateur Ladies Golf Association (TALGA). Its prime objective was to raise the standards of ladies’ golf in Thailand. They focus attention on golf facilities for ladies and encourage standards to be raised at courses as well. Visiting ladies can check the TALGA or any Thailand golf specialist agent for specialized woman’s golf information.

Thailand is also a great place to learn golf. Driving ranges and golf courses usually have professionals to teach beginners. One Bangkok golf instruction company even offers a one-day ‘ Lady on the Links ‘ that includes lunch, a spa treatment and 9-hole playing lesson, or a beginner 20-hour ‘Ladies Think Golf Program’.

For ladies living in Thailand, golf is more fun if you join a regular group. In my earlier posting about Thai golf societies, I mention about each club and point out those with active ladies sections. When not golfing, Thailand is the shopping center of Asia, with everything from designer clothes to fabulous local handicrafts, all at inexpensive prices. For the ardent lady golfer, department stores in Bangkok like Siam Paragon, Central Chitlom,  and The Emporium or popular Thaniya Plaza have extensive selections of top brand golf equipment, and of fashionable designer golf outfits. I’d appreciate hearing from ladies with their experiences of golfing in Thailand, so feel free to post a comment here, or if you prefer drop me an email at at my Thailand golf vacation company and I will take care of the posting duties.

  1. Hi Mark: Just reading your great website about golf in Thailand. I live in Nichada, have been in Bangkok for six years. Two years ago a group of ten women started lessons together and now we play a couple of times a week. None of us are very good but always hoping/trying to get better. We have been calling ourselves the Bangkok Ladies Golf Club and it just occurred to me to to check on line and make sure nobody else is using the name. Also wondering if we could maybe register with the Thailand Golf Society just to be informed about various fun golfing events, or should we contact TALGA which I didn’t even know existed until I read your website. As I said we are not very good but all LOVE the game and are devoted to becoming better players. We play every Tuesday morning at Chuan Chuen and discover/play a new course about twice a month. We are all taking weekly lessons at the Pro Club in Nichada.
Looking forward to your reply and thanks very much, Diane Furst

J is for Jitters. First tee jitters are common golfing in Thailand, but exactly what are they and how do you overcome first tee jitters? That feeling, on your first day of your Thailand golf vacation where you can hardly

  3. I just got back from Thailand in March. We flew Eva Airlines, which was the cheapest we could find at the time. It was comfortable and the staff was nice.
