Thailand Golf Holiday and Travel Budgets (Part 2)

Thailand Golf Holiday and Travel Budgets (Part 2)

In this second part of “Thailand Golf Holiday Travel Budgets” I will give some examples of typical costs for golf holidays. These costs are approximate and will vary depending on time of the year. I have included the top and best golf courses in each area along with private transportation to and from each of the courses.

Examples of such packages including accommodation golf and transport are as follows.

In Bangkok, a one week stay at a nice 4–star accommodation in a central location, together with 4 days golf at leading courses, should cost you around $700 US dollars.

Read more about other examples and specific prices of food drinks and shopping in the continuation of this post.

In the popular resorts of Pattaya and Hua Hin, a similar stay at a 3-star resort, can be secured for around $500 US dollars. There are many 4 and 5 star options in both these locations, and again you should budget for $700 to $1000 US dollars depending on choice of hotel.

Phuket, another very popular destination, tends to be a slightly more expensive option, both for accommodation and golf. This is more due to the other facilities available on this stunning island, and the popularity it has with visitors in the high season. For a quality 4-star accommodation in Phuket, together with 4 rounds of golf, then you would be looking at a cost around $1200 US dollars.

Outside golf, there are obviously many additional costs for your consideration. Eating out can be very cheap in Thailand, with many local restaurants providing a full meal with a couple of drinks for as little as a $5 US dollars per person. The more ‘tourist’ designed local restaurants, which tend to be situated more centrally in town, will charge slightly higher prices, but again you can have a very fulfilling meal with drinks for no more than $20 US dollars. There are many international restaurants, serving food from all around the world, and again this will be much cheaper than you are used to. From a $5 US dollars upwards for a main course, and beer or wine around $2 US dollars a glass, it really is great value for money.

Overall, the prices in restaurants, pubs and bars for alcohol tend to be fairly standard from around $2 US dollars for a drink. Wine can be a bit more expensive due to import tax, but nothing extravagant. Soft drinks will cost you around $1 US dollar.

In additional to golf, there are many organized tourist excursions you can go on including such things as visiting a National Park, boat trips around the islands of Phuket, sightseeing at the many temples to name but a few. Depending on the nature of your trip, these excursions can range from around $25 US dollars, which will include return transport to your hotel.

Finally, consideration should be given to a shopping budget in Thailand. It is a shopper’s paradise with some great bargains to be had. At the street markets, you can buy quality t-shirts for as little as $4 US dollars, and many of the locally made handicrafts are just as cheap.

In the department stores, from clothes to digital cameras, you will tend to find that Thailand provides a much cheaper option than home.

Overall, Thailand provides great value for money and we hope this gives you an idea about the potential costs of visiting.
